How Do I Trouble Shoot My Hot Tub Heater?

How do I go about trouble shooting my hot tub heater? What are the steps involved in proper trouble shooting of a spa, Jacuzzi or hot tub heater?

Here are some fundamental steps that you can do yourself. (Please remember to that there is always a risk of electrocution and getting seriously hurt while doing repairs on your own spa or hot tub. If you at any point are not 100% sure on what you are doing, please call us or your spa repair company).

Hot tub heaters are fairly simple to trouble shoot if you follow these basic steps.

If your spa or hot tub isn't heating, them

1. Check if your filters are cleaned. Most of the time it is simply a matter of cleaning or replacing the filters. Dirty filters will prevent, or slow down the flow of water to the point where the heating control system will not be able to turn on the heater

2. Check water flow. Is there water coming out of the jets? Is the flow as strong as normal or does it feel weaker? If you cannot detect any water flow, this means that your heating pump isn't working properly

3. If your pump is working fine and your filters are clean, still there is no heat. The problem may then be in

* The flow or pressure switch. The flow or pressure switch does not properly detect that there is flowing water in the system and therefore the control system is not turning on the heater. If this is the case, you most likely need to call us or your spa repair company

* The temperature sensor. The temp sensor does not properly sense the accurate water temperature in the water. The water may be 85F warm, but the temp sensor thinks it 104F. Therefore the temp sensor is sending the wrong information to the control system and as a result the heating is not coming on. If this is the case, you most likely need to call us or your spa repair company

* The pc circuit board itself. The actual main control board may be bad. That can manifest in that it will no longer interpret the signals it is receiving from the sensors properly. Therefore it cannot turn on the heater If this is the case, you most likely need to call us or your spa repair company

* The top controller. There are situation where the actual top control have failed and will not send the proper signals to the control system. As a result the control system will not turn on the heater. If this is the case, you most likely need to call us or your spa repair company
